Every once in a while a truly extraordinary property presents itself and I am delighted to be offering this superb home located in one of Willunga’s finest streets.

While many properties claim to be of picture book quality, this one has had its time in the limelight, featuring in the Summer 2018 edition of Fleurieu Living Magazine.

In 2012, the owners began what can only be described as an ambitious restoration of the original 1847 cottage. This included expanding the home in a manner that complements the existing cottage, making it the true heart of the home, while also offering an extremely luxurious comfortable lifestyle with high end finishes and details. The resulting home is one steeped in character yet also represents ultimate comfort, functionality and luxury. When finished the project represented the perfect marriage of old into new and the resulting building is a true masterpiece.

Materials such as soapstone benchtops, double glazed, Euro style tilt and turn UPVC windows are a standout as is the Cypress pine lintel salvaged from Ash Wednesday, which by itself would have a story to tell.

The new build, with its high ceilings offers something new at every turn with remilled, oiled Messmate hardwood flooring, which is a stunning feature of the upstairs living space. The entrance is wide and spacious and showcases the sweeping vistas over distant vineyards and through to the ocean.

Naturally as part of the renovation, the cottage is up to date with a new galvanised iron roof, new electrical and plumbing. No expense was spared, including the use of Imported French lime used in the re-rendering of the 162 year old cottage.

There is plenty of natural light which floods in via double glazed skylights lining the gallery which provides a well thought out transition between old and new and highlights the beautiful internal lime washed walls of the cottage. This feature in the upstairs living space delivering a magical backdrop to the large picture windows which provide fabulous views for all to enjoy.

Year round comfort is assured with creature comforts such as underfloor heating to both bathrooms, while travertine tiling is a highlight in the master bathroom. Fully insulated walls and ceiling, plus ducted and programmable reverse cycle heating and cooling is on offer throughout for superior efficiency. There is also a highly efficient Sanden heat pump water heater.

Solid Kanmantoo blue stone features on the outside of the new build and quality appliances such as a Smeg dishwasher and a classic Falcon stove adorn the kitchen space, while designer fans feature in the living space. The wrap around deck is the perfect place to take in the setting sun and enjoy a glass of wine from the built-in Vintec wine storage cabinet.

There is also a selection of citrus and fruiting trees, established raised vegetable garden beds, plus a programmable pop up sprinkler system for the garden and lawns.

A rebuilt 160 year old stone shed provides plenty of storage and space to work from.

The owners have gone to great lengths in their quest to build something that is not only unique, but something that will last (like the original cottage) for generations to come. With so much to admire you won’t be disappointed you came.
