Down a country lane in a world of its own is a property called Indooroopilly.
Indooroopilly is nestled on 105 acres with 7 acres cleared around the home, which is perched high on the property with your own private views to Wattamolla Valley and Wedding Cake Mountain. Hidden from the road in a peaceful pocket the only sound you will hear is that of nature’s own amphitheatre of native birds caroling.
This exclusive mountain retreat was originally built by writer and poet Barbara Blackman (whom was previously married to artist Charles Blackman) and her then partner Marcel Veldhoven as a nurturing escape. It soon became a universal gathering place for like minded philosophers, writers, poets, artists, performers and the literary set. Friends came for contemplation and good company; music was the motto of the time and still has the theme today. Evolved from the land itself, the home is hand built and integrates the tapestry of textures such as mud bricks, paddock rocks, local timber and a unique temple like roofline which makes Indooroopilly one of the most interesting and individual places in the area. A stay here provides history, intrigue, contrasts, mystique and balanced harmony. Indooroopilly cultivates a retreat to soothe the soul.
The property features 3 fire places, BBQ, Austar, kids play area with games, swimming pool, bush walks and a waterfall. Fully equipped kitchen and laundry.
