Holiday Accommodation:
This quirky 70s tree house, tucked into a bush setting with views to Jervis Bay, is a perfect spot for a relaxing break away from the city.
Nestled on a tree-filled block in Vincentia, we call the house ‘Possum Run’ in honour of Ginger and Fred, our resident ringtail possums, who scamper from tree to tree (ringtails aren’t keen to touch the ground).
We fell in love with this pole house, and we are sure you will too. It was designed in the style of a Dacha, a typical Russian summer house, and was constructed by a local builder in 1975. The style though is definitely Australian and clearly influenced by many of the major architects of the era.
In winter when it is cool, light the fire, curl up on the sofa with a good book. In the summer, sit on the front deck and enjoy breakfast, feed the King parrots and lorikeets and contemplate the day. Fire up the barbecue and have friends over for lunch or dinner.
If you want something more active, Jervis Bay has plenty to keep you busy. There are local cafes in Huskisson, or you can take a short bush walk (White Sands Walk) from Nelson’s Beach to Hyams Beach for a coffee or lunch.
Swim in the bay at some of Australia’s prettiest beaches. Enjoy fishing and snorkeling in the bay, go on a dolphin or whale watch cruise, play golf or tennis, or go bushwalking in one of the nearby National Parks.
