Puerto Galera, an elegant mansion on Sydney Harbour at Hunter’s Hill, Sydney’s oldest garden suburb, draws its inspiration from the American Ambassador’s Residence in Canberra.  It helps that its rich, weathered red bricks were rescued from a demolished Government Press House built in 1849 and lovingly designed into this famous residence.

An Inspirational Palette for the most Discriminating Hostess. This is where visiting dignitaries have dined on Australia’s finest offerings, where Presidents, Prime Ministers, Members of Parliament, Senators and Lord Mayors felt welcome but comfortable in discreet surrounds.
This is a house where full use of the ample grounds has been thoughtfully incorporated into the design by a master architect, hewing to the classic style.  It is not only a classic in its exterior appearance, but each room displays the essence of generous proportions in the most elegant manner.  High ceilings prevail throughout and each room makes a grand statement, but the entrance foyer is a playwright’s stage, a choreographer’s studio or an orchestra’s chamber.  At other times, well, an everyday statement of a successful and comfortable family.
The unfurnished house can only become a home with the warm, personal feelings and emotional investment of a close family.  It will reward such investments in abundance!  As the home and garden ring with the sound of children’s laughter, it becomes a magnet for their friends.
