“Wyrd” in Anglo-Saxon times was the silent goddess who presided over the destiny of gods and men.

In medieval Norse mythology, the three Fates – The Past, the Present and the Future attended every birth to cast the weird (fate of destiny) of the childs life.

These three heavenly beings, depicted in the 13th century as maidens by a fountain at the base of the World Tree, inexorably wove the fate of the world.

Time, of which they are made seemed to have forgotten the three Fates until Shakespeare wrote about the weird sisters in Macbeth. Portrayed as witches they predict what fate has in sore for Banquo and Macbeth…

Wyrd sits calmly overlooking the timeless waters of Moreton Bay.
