A 15 minute walk will get you to McCallum Park right on the Swan River. Walk a bit further and you can end up at the outdoor Movies by Burswood.
The location is great for transport, the 72/75 buses to and from Curtin University run directly past the house on Geddes St. It is a short 15/20min bus ride into Perth. Other bus options available about a 5/10 minute walk away on Canning highway and the Victoria Park bus transfer station is not far away at all.
