This renovated and extended 1960′s home is positioned on a 1140 sqm parcel of land in a quiet loop street at the base of Mt. Majura Nature Reserve. The original privately built 1960′s home has been extensively renovated and sympathetically extended in 2005 and has morphed into a very modern family home with a flexible floorplan. The well equipped stainless steel and stone kitchen is the central hub between the spacious formal sitting and dining room at the front of the home and the sun soaked family room at the rear. The family room opens via double French doors to the private rear entertaining area and the sparkling solar heated inground pool.
The accommodation consists of three bedrooms downstairs, all with built in robes that are serviced by a brand new bathroom which features a free-standing tub and semi frameless glass shower screen. Upstairs is the palatial master suite with a huge walk through robe and ensuite bathroom. In addition, the upstairs has a mezzanine style rumpus/ office / parents retreat with a feature cathedral ceiling. Other features include ducted reverse cycle air conditioning throughout, an electrically controlled awning over the outdoor entertaining area, excellent storage including a walk in linen press and a 1.5 car garage and a single carport. Most rooms enjoy a wonderful relationship with the richly planted garden and from the upstairs level, a gorgeous tree top outlook.
Close to the walking and mountain biking trails of Mount Majura Nature Reserve, the trendy Hackett shops and excellent schools, Dickson town centre and the CBD, it is ideally located for a wonderful lifestyle.

Owners’ comment:
We really love the family home that we have created at 12 Selwyn St Hackett. It has been designed to be a family and entertaining home. With a large private garden, with plenty of entertaining areas surrounding the pool it is a fantastic venue for parties and family gatherings.
The home has been thoughtfully extended and renovated by TT Architecture to gain light and warmth in the winter, and to allow a flow from inside to outside in the warmer months.
This is a great family home for all ages, with multiple areas where family can do their own thing or come together. The master suite provides an oasis from the activity of downstairs, in a large area with great views. With a new bathroom, carpets, and freshly painted inside and out, there is little to do except enjoy the summer by the pool.
There is a lovely garden that has been intentionally created to reduce effort and maximise enjoyment. There is an automated watering system and has been planted with trees and shrubs that need minimal attention. Extra storage is provided for the garden and bike and sports equipment.
We love being so close to Mt Majura where we walk the dogs every day, mountain bike ride, and walk. It is an easy walk to the top of Mt Majura and it feels like you are no longer in a city.
Also Mt Majura has excellent mountain bike riding, bush walks, and is on the Centenary Trail so can travel from here all over Canberra. My favourite is the ride out to Hall via Goorooyarroo and Mulliagan’s Flat Nature Parks.
