Clarence Town:

Situated just 45 minutes north of Newcastle the village of Clarence Town lies in the Williams River Valley. The village is one of the first settled sites in Australia, it was a productive river port and its wide streets reflect the bullock team reliance of the era. The first Australian built ocean going vessels were built in the village, with the William IV being the most famous.
At the foot hills of the Barrington Tops, Clarence Town is well serviced with a supermarket, post office, bank, chemist, vet, recreation club, hardware store, mechanical workshop, bakery, pub, pool and numerous other small businesses. The picturesque town is approx a 2hr commute to the north of Sydney, with the Newcastle Airport less than a thirty minute drive. Airline services connect Newcastle to Sydney, Brisbane, Gold Coast and Melbourne several times a day.
The regional centres of Maitland and Raymond Terrace are approx thirty minutes away. The pristine beaches of Port Stevens, Nelson Bay and Hawks Nest / Tea Gardens a 45 minute drive. The vineyards of the Hunter Valley and Pokolbin are less than an hour away. The vineyards are the venue of choice for many of the performing artists and acts on their national tours.
The village exhibits an old fashioned sense of community with well performing schools. The town is serviced by two public schools. Dungog High School and the Hunter Valley Grammar School are serviced by a well developed bus route.
Clarence Town is one of the Hunter Valleys best kept secrets, and the area continues to benefit from the development and opportunity the region had captured over the past few years.
