Situated in the heart of Berry opposite the historic Court House and Berry Showground, this three-bedroom 1930s home has been lovingly restored by the current owners to highlight its unique decorative features.
Every room features a different decorative cornice design, highlighted in white against dramatic wall colours, and the curved walls of the living area, leadlight windows and window seats in the main bedroom and living area add to the home’s unique appeal.
From the columned front verandah, a large entrance hall leads to the living and dining area with original fireplace, timber kitchen with retro-style Ilve stove, main bathroom with double shower, a laundry and sunroom, opening at the rear to a large covered deck. There are two large and one smaller bedroom, with the main bedroom having built-in wardrobes.
The freestanding garage has been restored and converted into a games room with polished concrete floors, allowing potential conversion back into a garage if required. Alternatively, it would be possible to utilise the space as a studio, home office or granny flat.
Additional features include ducted air-conditioning throughout the house and a back-to-base alarm system.
The current owners purchased the home as a weekender, with the intention of making a permanent move from Sydney in time.
We’ve always loved Berry, say the owners, and absolutely fell in love with the house on first sight. It needed a lot of TLC but had
such a wonderful feel. We’ve stripped it back to its original beauty and it’s now in top condition for somebody else to love and care for it as we have. It has such good karma.
The owners also had landscape plans drawn up to bring the grounds up to the standard of the house, but have put these in abeyance now their plans have changed.
The house is located in a quiet street, within an easy stroll of Berry Public School, shops, cafes and restaurants.
We’ve enjoyed just hanging out here on weekends, say the owners. The kids have made friends and love to play cricket at the Showground and we enjoy hosting lunches and dinners, going to the markets and the food, wine and shopping in the area. It’s really central and so close to everything.”
