The current owners of this enormous family home are moving to warmer climes, and it is with bittersweet emotion that their home is made available to purchase for the first time ever. Back in 1996, they finished building on a large block in a quiet neighbourhood, and began their lives at 5 Kinlyside Avenue. It wasn’t until 4 years ago, however, that the house took on new life, and underwent a major extension and renovation. It was at this point that the house truly fulfilled the potential of the block, taking in the picturesque view towards the Brindabellas, and adding a lot more space to accommodate a growing family.

The house has retained a very private and unassuming front, largely hidden behind a lush hedge, with only the double garage in plain view. However, as soon as you approach the front door, you will start to notice the differences. The door is much larger than normal, setting the scene for what is to come. Walk through it, and you’ll find a polished bamboo floor underfoot, which leads you past a home theatre and draws you into the main living area.

The kitchen was completely redone and now offers a huge amount of bench space, a butler’s pantry and high end stainless steel appliances. It also takes advantage of the view, and blends seamlessly with the rest of the house. The bathrooms have also been renovated, and there are three in total, so no need to line up.

Whilst the open plan kitchen and lounge are the beating heart of the household, the other place you will likely be spending a lot of time is the new swimming pool, built to an exceptional quality, and enveloped by Travertine. The deep blue colour is so inviting, and quite different to what you will normally find around Canberra. Whilst the colder months often do render pools useless here, this one is solar heated to be comfortable all year round. Being a saltwater pool it’s also easier on your eyes, hair and skin, and is simpler to maintain.

The sun isn’t just working to heat your pool though. Electricity bills have been kept low thanks to the 5kW solar system on the roof, and double glazed windows throughout the home further enhance its efficiency.

All in all, this a terrific place to entertain, to raise a family, and to enjoy the peace and quiet of Jerrabomberra.
