“Bullamon” is situated approximately 64 kilometres north west of Moree via Carnarvon Highway and Talmoi Road, with access from both these sealed roads. It is approximately 10 kilometres south west of the village of Garah.
“Bullamon” comprises 1,699.2 hectares. Subject to survey.
It has 190 hectares of dryland cultivation, suitable for summer and winter crops. The rest of the area is taken up with storage dams, head-ditches, tailwater drains and supply channels.
“Bullamon” has 1,162.9 hectares (2,873.5 acres) developed for flood irrigation with 4 storage dams, with a total of approximately 5,400 megalitres.
“Bullamon” is well set up with pumps having two 2 x 26″ pumps on river diversions off Carole Creek, and 2 Kelly and Lewis tailwater pumps and 1 of the 26″ pumps collecting tailwater as well. There is a 28″ ZLB Axial flow pump and 240hp Caterpillar motor on hand which can be installed on the new surge area, where it could pump tailwater and rain water in wet times. This pump is capable of pumping up to 7 megalitres per hour.
The pump to No. 4 main storage dam is a 26″ HB40 Chinese Mixed flow fitted with a 3306 Turbocharged aftercool 270hp Caterpillar motor, with belts and pulleys. This motor was new 6 years ago and has only 3,469 hours. The pump was reconditioned 4 years ago.
The second 26″ pump is fitted with a John Deere 6619A motor of 255hp and water cooled marine gear box, (there is a brand new spare gear box on site in case of emergencies). This pump and motor was installed 10 years ago, but the motor has only 5,161 hours because the storage dam No. 3 was only built in 2002, and the pump had very little use up until then. The pump was also reconditioned in 2003.
Both these pumps have large fuel tanks 17,000 and 14,000 litres respectively.
The 2 tailwater pumps are in good order with the first being installed in 1986. 5 years ago this pump was fully reconditioned and the motor replaced with a 120hp John Deere.
The second 15″ pump and motor was only installed in late 2002 with a new 120hp John Deere motor.
The irrigation development was started in 1980 and was gradually increased in area over 24 years. All fields have been laser levelled twice, with half of the fields three times. Field 13 was the last field finished in late 2000 and No. 2 storage dam was constructed in late 2002. This dam has 6.25 metre walls with the whole floor area removed to 2.25 metres. This is No. 2 storage dam and holds 1,300 megalitres.
The main storage dam No. 1 has the walls raised by 2 metres in 2004 which raised its capacity to 2,600 megalitres. The two tailwater dams hold 300 (No. 4) and 1,200 megalitres (No. 3), and the main channel from the John Deere pump holds 100 megalitres.
Improvements comprise a 4 bedroom cottage, partly airconditioned, also a sprinkler system to the lawns.
A second small 2 bedroom cottage in good order and with air-conditioning. There is a 12m x 34m workshop and machinery shed – this shed is only 8 years old, part concrete floor, power. A second machinery shed with outside toilet and wash trough 9m x 18.5m. 700 tonne grain shed. 2 x 40 tonne elevated silos.
Farming has been carried out on a rotation program using “beeline” equipment
