63 Rowan Avenue Uralla is was once just an old colonial farm cottage until Scott purchased it. While it may be typical for people to buy a house and strive with all their might to make it resemble something out of a House and Garden magazine, Scotts approach was one of uninhibited self-expression with absolutely no fear of colour and great flair for that creative, earthy, hands on, make do and own it style. 63 Rowan Avenue is a little bit Camelot with a boho-gypsie twist. It has a great vibe. Its a place where kids can be kids and everyone can chill out.

The home has 3 bedrooms. There is a great spot that would make a terrific rumpus room for the kids which would alternatively make a large 4th bedroom if needed. It has a large, open plan living/dining area with a warm, sunny disposition. And while the kitchen isnt one of those pristine, flat-packed, plastic wrapped jobs, it is the only one I have ever seen that comes complete with happy dragons! Of course there is the obligatory underbench oven, rangehood and dishwasher as well as a fabulous wood fuelled stove so you can really get your bake on.

The property has whopping 3638 square metres of land that rents a lot of space to fresh air and sunshine. It has a really cool garden several lovely big trees with plenty of open space. There is a great tree house for the kids, a raised garden bed, a small fenced area complete with a well-built chicken coop and a shelter suitable for a pony, a milking cow or maybe a goat or two. These sound and solid structures share the same superb northerly aspect as Scotts house. With a view to die for, one can only ponder as to how contented the wife and kids, the chooks and the milking cow must really be as they gaze across peaceful paddocks to distant hills.

Now we are all fully aware that hard work and no play equals no life, so the home comes complete with a gazebo or should I say a gazee-bar ye old inn in fact! It comes complete with a handcrafted wood fired furnace/oven. Fire it up and friends will come. Its always five oclock somewhere!

Scotts quirk and twist is evident everywhere, but so too is his undeniable sense of purpose & practicality along with his desire to lead a slightly more sustainable and constructive life. It is a fact of life that as your family grows so does your need to earn a quid to support them. The home includes workshop/studio/sheds & storage area. These are not just a kiddy-twiddle cubby sheds. They are fair-dinkum industrial high-bay sheds with three phase power, a gantry, wood heating, cement flooring, high bay lighting, ceiling fans, shower and toilet facilities. Perfect for any any small industrial enterprise. These are not separate to the house, they are an extension of it. Alternatively they could be converted into more household accommodation.

Ellen DeGeneres put it fair and square in your face when she saidNormal is getting dressed in clothes that you buy for work and driving through traffic in a car that you are still paying for in order to get the job you need to pay for the clothes and the car and the house that you leave vacant all day so you can afford to live in it. Clearly you dont have to settle for that kind of normal in this place. You can work here and live here – no commuting!

Not only does 63 Rowan Avenue have a lot to offer, so too does the township of Uralla. It is a vibrant community and one of the loveliest country towns in the state. The town is warm and welcoming. It has a great spirit of community mindedness. You will love being a part of it. The opportunity to strike that perfect balance between home life and work life is right here.
