What an amazing property…..

Gunwarddhe Warddhe means “Place of Many Stones” and not only is this evident in this home’s amazing stone construction, which is comprised of one foot thick stone with styrene insulation followed by one foot stone interior walls but there is over 100 ton of rock in the chimney end wall and 9 ton in the rear patio and path!

Inside whimsical objects, painstakingly etched into the stone walls, await your discovery – look for a lamb chasing an otter, a dog’s head, a whale, a shark and a little gnome peeking out of the alcove by the backdoor!

Lovingly crafted by a stone mason whose dream was to build a stone cottage of Porphry Rock, the construction took over 4 years to complete this amazing work of art.
And every element of this building has a story to tell! The stone was sourced from the demolition of the wharf sheds at Newstead Wharf in Brisbane (hewn by convicts in the late 1800′s).
With bluestone from Nerang and sandstone from Gatton, the stone mason hand picked every piece (with the majority also being hand cut on site).
Hand crafting continued with window frames constructed from NZ Kauri sourced from an old Rum Distillery under the streets of Sydney & dating back to the early 1900′s, kitchen cupboards fashioned on-site and internal doors and leadlights sourced from a currumbin valley homestead.

Like an umbrella above, the Springbrook canopy provides a sanctuary for this stone cottage which sits comfortably within its natural environment, looking almost magical as you approach & drawing your eye to discover what lays inside.

At the rear, the covered deck provides the perfect vantage-point to relax and absorb the natural rainforest & its local wildlife such as pademelons, king parrots and a myriad of local birdlife.
