An innovative approach to everything he undertakes and the ability to create a distinctly unique residence for each and every site, architect Frank Macchia has left an indelible mark on the Noosa property landscape. Number sixteen “The Anchorage” is no exception to this award winning designer’s amazing body of work.
An expansive water frontage captures long canal views to the north, while afternoon drinks on the terrace or out on the jetty catch the last rays of sun across the water and sensational sunsets.
The linear shape to the leafy cul de sac, gentle curve of internal walls and an exotic mix of Australian timbers set the scene for a remarkable waterfront residence. Framed by the spreading limbs of a Poinciana, foxtail palm protrude from a box hedge, sandstone underlines a cantilevered roof main entry and large concrete pavers step to the deep charcoal tone of a solid sliding door.
Light streams through tall panels of glass louvres and the strawberry hues of sandstone highlight the honey glow of Tasmanian Ash timber floors. The wide hallway wraps around a courtyard pool and a study angles off the foyer. In the other wing laundry, bathroom and private media room edge the glass lined approach. Tailored to engage and excite, rounded corners, square set plaster ceilings and gentle curves draw you to waterfront living zones. An organic mix of stone and timber dress a bespoke kitchen with preparation areas facing the pool, window servery to the terrace and a Karri top island bench.
Large timber framed glass sliders connect the pool and undercover timber deck, an evergreen frangipani hugs the northern wall and a fixed timber jetty stands ready. A handsome staircase lifts and turns through a void to the upper floor. The large main bedroom is akin to a luxury hotel suite, with sitting area, private balcony, room size cupboard space and an ensuite replete with a caulked timber edge Japanese bath. A hallway distances a further two sliding door bedrooms with a central rumpus room. Holding the provenance of fine wine, art and vintage automobiles, this one off waterfront residence is a gallery of outstanding design in a simply beautiful location.
