Shaun Lockyer, award winning Brisbane architect had a brief to create a family home to last the rigours of coastal living and provide a modern stylish dwelling to enable a lifestyle beyond compare.

And so he did.

From the second you arrive at this home, it is apparent that the design immediately exudes a coastal aesthetic through ageing ironbark timbers and natural materials.

Upon entry through the magnificent timber and glass pivot door you find the first of 3 living spaces that overlooks the front garden, features Merbau ceilings and fireplace. Polished concrete floors immediately lend you to that coastal feel alongside natural materials such as bold timber and stone walls. Clever and equally eclectic touches throughout lead you wanting to explore.

The dining area is bright and airy with a void to the ceiling at the second level and a gallery style walkway the length of this area gives a clue to the bedrooms above. Merbau timber features are plentiful, in ceilings, window trim and balustrades. There is a smart powder room nearby.

The kitchen is sleek and beautiful, with white stone benchtops and stainless steel appliances leading through to the butler’s pantry. The laundry follows the theme of modern stainless steel and white. One of two flights of stairs by the kitchen lead to the upstairs bedrooms.
To the rear of the home on the ground level is a media room and bathroom, and there is a second flight of stairs to the upper level here. On this level, timber floors take over from polished concrete.

The master bedroom is spacious and has its own media room opening to a terrace with large sliding timber doors, where you can appreciate lovely sea breezes. A beautiful bathroom and a walk in robe area complete the master suite. Three more bedrooms, and study or fifth bedroom and 2 bathrooms follow along on the gallery walkway from the master to the rear staircase.

The house has been expertly planned around a sequence of courtyards (north and south) that offer a very comfortable year round lifestyle – the plunge pool is visible from the downstairs dining and kitchen and overlooks a peaceful Japanese garden, an outdoor bbq, wood storage area and inbuilt seating.

This beautifully conceived home is only 100m from the beach and just 200m from the restaurants and bars of the Sunshine Beach village. A quick 5 minute drive will find you at Noosa Main Beach and the National Park.
