A Little History
Clarendon SA is a small town in the southern Adelaide Hills. It was established in the mid 1800s as primarily an agricultural township. Grape vines, apple orchards and other crops were grown. Like a lot of towns in the areas around Adelaide, the buildings were constructed from stone and many remain to this day. Clarendon was an isolated community, although only 18 miles from Adelaide, it took pioneers three days to negotiate the track by bullock dray. The winery complex, former police station, shops, institute, churches, hotel, school and houses have been revitalized during the last 20 years.
Education commenced shortly after 1850 and the first Kindergarten session was in 1975.
