Situated a short 300 or so metres from the water’s edge, in a world renown beach side suburb, this home was love at first sight for well known Stylist and Designer Agatha, and her sister Beatha. They knew they had their work cut out for them when they set about renovating, which took them about three years of dedication and hard work. Today the home has been completely retrofitted.

The spacious living room provides the first glimpse of modern styling, perfect for entertaining, watching the game, movie nights or chilling with the family. The lighting is a feature all of its own, and fully dimmable to suit any occasion. The original double glass sliding doors and the art deco lounge provide an interesting contrast to the modern vibe.

The adjacent dining area with its pentagon shape literally stops people in their tracks. It sits six comfortably, with enough room for a buffet to hold crystal glasses and cognac.

We complemented the space by sourcing the original art-deco ceiling rose and installing a designer art-deco reproduction chandelier. Another feature is the purpose-designed and custom-made (English) Sanderson art deco silk curtains with (English) Designer Guild satin backing, which had more fittings and adjustments than most brides’ frocks.
Overall, it’s an intimate atmosphere where guests feel so comfortable they never want to leave’, says Agatha.

The large kitchen is anything but conventional. It is not only practical, but also very spacious and reflects smart planning.

The free standing stainless steel Westinghouse 900 wide oven, along with the large stainless steel 900 wide designer Luxury Frankie range hood, complements the large six-person people dining table in the kitchen. This is practical for casual eating, and also doubles as a preparation area.

The pantry, originally a fireplace, is deceptively spacious. It has been stripped back to create a two-door, double the depth walk-in pantry with an automatic LED light on a sensor.

The second bedroom fits a queen bed comfortably, and has a large walk-in robe. The master bedroom is large enough to be called a parents retreat. It has a large built-in robe, with an internal television point for those who prefer their television sight unseen in. It fits a large queen bed, with room enough for a three-seater sofa for curling up with a book on the weekend. It can also fit a dresser/desk if required.

The large powder room with vanity is perfect for the morning when there may be a number of people getting ready for work. The bathroom has been retrofitted with a black-and-white art deco feel, art deco tiles, and designer reproduction art deco mirror, but the vanity is new. The corner decorative light in contrasting red creates a relaxed atmosphere, perfect when soaking in the bathtub.

The studio office is an open plan with views from the backyard all the way to the ocean.

The large laundry with storage sits in the garage, which could be transformed into a bedroom with en suite giving the home with further future potential.

The deck with its magnificent ocean views is a place in constant usebreakfast in the morning, lunch with the family, BBQ with friends while the children play on the grass, or a romantic sunset dinner.

This home is perfect for the first home buyer, an investor for a holiday rental and/or future development, a young professional couple with or without children, or for lifestyle downsizing and relaxation. It has a holiday feel, every day.
