About the park:

The Longstay Caravan Park Symonston is a semi rural unique community located on the urban fringes of inner south Canberra. Many homes have well established gardens and there is a strong sense of community in the park. The park was originally established in 1975 to house the workers employed in Canberra’s residential & commercial construction and the new Parliament House.

After discussions with the Department of the Capital Territory and the National Capital Development Commission, it was decided to locate residents on a more permanent basis to the Narrabundah Longstay Caravan Park.

Currently the ACT Government has ownership of the park, and it is under the administration of the Department of Disability, Housing and Community Services (DHCS/ACT) .

New owners of dwellings in the park, whether they be caravans/annexes, villas or mobile homes are required to enter into a occupancy agreement with DHCS/ACT. This agreement converts to a periodic tenancy (month to month) after the initial occupancy period expires.

Talking to residents they love the park and the semi rural lifestyle that is on offer. There are approx 102 occupied sites in the park.
