The Cape Gallery, Byron Bay’s oldest established and best located art gallery is reluctantly offered for sale. The director is returning to Europe for one, possibly two years.

Directing the gallery – developing partnerships with the artists and collectors – discovering new talent – helping to enrich and being a key part of the cultural life of the Byron community – offers a complex but richly rewarding life.

The gallery enjoys what is unarguably one of the prime retail locations in Byron Bay – a prominent 6 metre frontage on the sunny side of Lawson Street in the heart of the CBD.
Financial returns from this location depend entirely on the priorities of the operator. The present director has chosen to focus exclusively on the development of local talent. This covers all costs and produces a modest profit . A more commercial focus would undoubtedly be more remunerative but possibly not as much fun.

The lease runs to 2010 with an option to extend to 2015.
