Caldera Retreat sits on a magnificent North facing 300 elevated acres at the headwaters of Commissioners Creek and nestled below Mt Jerusalem National Park. Its elevation is between 200m and 600m above sea level.
The property comprises a mixture of pristine old growth rainforest (primarily Red Cedar), riparian terrain and old growth wet eucalypt forest with massive ancient trees, possibly 1,000+ years old. Having once been used for dairy pasture, there remain large areas of paddock atop open plateaus with sweeping views of Mt Jerusalem and towards Mount Warning, Mt Doughboy and across the Caldera.
There are currently 5 renovated dwellings on the property, clustered together in what is known as the ‘Village’. All are within earshot of the gentle sounds of the creek and rainforest.
All cottages have had separate, upgraded power meters installed and are billed separately. In addition, all cottages have new gas lines with all new gas appliances.
Water is supplied from the permanent creeks into new tanks and filters and is gravity fed reducing the need for electric pumps.
Wireless internet and telephone are available in the Village area.
Significant additional investment has been made in creating a food forest by the planting of a bush food orchard and a traditional orchard with 100′s of plants. Well over 1000 native local plants mostly propagated in the nursery from onsite seed collection have also been planted.
