The house is a fine example of Australian rural Georgian style architecture of the Federation Period. The heritage-classified house is simple and dignified.
The patina of age was preserved whilst making good the original
structures without tampering with the charm of the period to become a really stunning place. While carrying out the work to recapture the early 1900s, subtle sympathetic modernizations for contemporary living were included. Hand made bricks of various sizes were reclaimed on site. The old timber, recycled for the restoration, had come from the old Jindabyne township.
By keeping original items, the charming ambiance of the house reflects the era. The original items of the iron bathtub and the washstand, Beaconlight stove, mantelpiece, pressed iron ceilings copper, cement tubs and wringer were all retained with contemporary requirements. Of note is the front doorstep, a very large slab of granite, which was brought from the mountains.
