Jindabyne Equestrian Resort (JER) in southeast NSW is being offered for sale for the first time.
Its owner, Garry Fischer, has reluctantly put the 16.4ha equine centre on the market because of family reasons.
The resort, located at the corner of Kosciuszko Highway and Hill Top Road Jindabyne, is fast becoming a Snowy Mountain icon, “Building costs were around $7 million (not including land value) but I am ready to move on and will consider genuine offers.” Mr Fischer said.
According to Mr Fischer, the vision for the equestrian resort was developed after years of research and extensive travel in Europe and Australia, “It was designed by architects in Warendorf, North Germany (where every village has an equine centre) and adheres to world’s best technology in design, architecture and equine handling techniques which were adopted to create a truly five-star, world-class facility set against a beautiful Australian alpine backdrop”.
Work began on building the resort in 2001 and the centre was completed in three stages by 2005/2006. It is fully operational in its present form with stage four (a
purpose-built modern three star budget backpacker type accommodation plus 6 x five-star luxury cabins in a bush setting) still to come.
The resort comprises of: * a stand alone lodge that can sleep up to 23 people with conference room, spa, sauna, solarium and a massage room making it ideal for business groups who want to enjoy staying in comfort & style as well as participating in horse-riding activities, *the main resort complex which features a massive indoor arena, 20 indoor luxury stables, a licensed 100-seat mountain-style restaurant and 5 luxury suites to cater for a range of guests including horse riders, skiers, fishermen, families and groups.
There are also several outdoor arenas that can be used for rodeo, training or lunging yard purposes.“The resort combines the vibrancy of cosmopolitan Jindabyne, the leafy charm of the Australian Bush, the sophistication of German engineering and the true heritage of ‘Man From Snowy River’ country” Mr Fischer said. “It could be bought as an investment opportunity with a manager and staff in place, or the new owner could take it in a totally different direction. It could also work for anyone with a business interest in equestrian sports, thoroughbred racing, breeding, training or the hospitality industry”.
The resort is situated in the heart of the Snowy Mountains, right on the Kosciuszko Road just 15 minutes before Jindabyne, two hours from Canberra and five hours from Sydney. It is less than an hours drive from the ski resorts of Perisher and Thredbo.
