Vehicular access is two wheel drive into the Dog, Ram, Main and Suitor paddocks but four wheel drive only into the Borrick paddock. It has a 35 year old solid brick house Australian country home with wide verandahs all the way around and breathtaking views from every angle. The residence is made up of 6 bedrooms and an office. One of the bedrooms is currently used as a TV/Rumpus room. There is an open wood fireplace in the massive lounge room and a slow combustion stove in the kitchen, which is also used to heat the hot water during the cloudy and cold winter days, the hot water system is stand-alone solar on the tin roof. The kitchen has been totally renovated in a classic country style, with stone benches, ample storage and preparation space and a walk in pantry. The family room is open to the kitchen and offers new tiles, laid at the same time as the new kitchen was built. It has 90,000 litre fresh water supply, which is gravity fed from two tanks above the house, in the main paddock, and that water is harvested from the house and pumped up to the two tanks. The residence is approximately 28 square and its footprint is 450 square metres. This does not include the carport, and it can house 4 large cars comfortably. There is a large shed, 25m long, 18m wide and 7.5m high, with the infrastructure available and in place to extend it another 18 metres, it has an open end to the south and has a 150mm thick concrete slab. The shed also has 3 phase power available via a 125 KVA generator located 100 metres away with its own fuel tank and other required inventory. Stornoway also boasts the best of personal meat rooms, with a solid brick meat house and slide rails, stainless steel bench tops and is 100% fly and rodent proof. Next to the meat house is the chook house, garden and feed shed . Within the ram paddock, there is a new “econo-cycle” septic tank, not yet operational but this is to accommodate any wet area’s that may be implemented into the shed. Stornoway also has a 35 year old very established orchard, with several apple trees, being granny smith, red delicious and golden delicious as well as walnut, quince and apricot trees. These trees bear fruit every year and during the harvest time – even supply some other families. However, in case of another 10-year drought, Stornoway is protected by the ability to use the house water supply to keep the gardens and lawn alive with the flick of a tap. There is also provision for another 20,000 gallons of water to be harvested off the roof of the shed. The dog paddock has a set of all steel cattle yards, capable of working with 25 head, they now have a fenced corridor to make it easier to move and get the cows in. The truck access is really quite a synch (according to the truck drivers themselves) and the race has an elevated platform for ease of stock husbandry. Stornoway is currently carrying 90 first cross ewes with 120 fat lambs at foot, as well as 66 merino ewes with 40 first cross lambs at foot with 80 young merino wethers running in the Borrick paddock. There are also 6 cows in the dog paddock with calves at foot as well. And due to the good layout and size of the paddocks, there is no stress at all on the pastures. Yellow box trees are in large numbers and it is the older dead ones that are used for the firewood during the winter months, most of these have died during the last 10-year drought and are quite accessible.
