LAND & HISTORY: The Walgett property “Ulah” was first purchased by the Fleming Family in 1880 and is currently occupied by the 5th generation.
Prior to this “Ulah” was an out-station of “Gingie Station”.
“Ulah” is rated as one of the premier grazing stations on the Barwon River.
It has 30km full frontage to the Barwon River and receives beneficial flooding from the Mungaroo Warambool and the Oakey Channel.
The property has a long history in breeding stud sheep & cattle. A shorthorn stud moved up from “Russley” one of the family properties at Aberdeen and in 1974 the “Ulah Merino Stud” based on “Uardry” bloodlines was established in 1910.
Both of these studs have now been dispersed, to make way for irrigated cropping, dryland farming and a commercial cattle operation.
