This commercial building is in the main shopping area of Tenterfield on the New England Highway. The building was erected in 1913 to house the local newspaper, and as a solicitor’s office.
The building is on 1012 sq. metres and takes up the street frontage with an access easement on one side to the rear which has a large area for further use or parking facilities.
There are four offices with open fireplaces at the front with a central hall and a large open truss area at the rear with natural skylights and separate ladies and gents toilets. This was the former print production area.
The iron roof and guttering are in excellent condition having been renewed in recent years. The building is very sound, double brick, timber floors and windows, arched hallway with solid timber doors.
There is also a built-in strong room/ safe with a brass seal emblem. A freestanding timber framed fibro clad store shed with loading stage and stairs is at the rear of the building.
There are several possibilities for this building. At present it is in original and unrestored condition having been used continuously from the day it was built up to several years ago as the home of the newspaper.
