History. The house dates from the 1850s when it was the home of Nathan Lazarus, a cabinetmaker by trade. Nathan was a civic-minded person and in 1891 he was elected Mayor of Queanbeyan.

The original cottage is typical of a late Victorian Cottage through its steep Gothic Style hipped roof of corrugated iron and the original rendered brick. This home is one of the few that remains of that period throughout the district.

The lounge room has 11ft ceilings and is a great open plan design and features picture rails, timber flooring, ceiling rose, decorative arches, painted timber panelled chair rail, original light fittings, switches and pull cord. The large timber window has half height white plantation shutters for privacy and adds to the romance. This room leads through to the formal dining room and continues the Victorian features picture rail, cornices, light fittings, ceiling rose etc creating a perfect ambience for entertaining family and friends alike.
