Wynella Gardens

Built in 1942 during the war. It was built by the Miss Cahills from Sydney. It is believed that Misses Cahills built Wynella Gardens because they were scared of the Japanese coming to Sydney. The Cahill sisters had a concession for refreshments at the movie theatres in Sydney. They also owned several Cahill Devonshire Tea Rooms in Sydney.

The stone work at Wynella was done by Italian Prisoners of War. The marble for the fireplace was imported from Italy. The building is weatherboard because in the war it was hard to get bricks.

Miss Cahills came every weekend in their Rolls Royce chauffeur driven car together with the maid. Over the kitchen door you can see the remains of the Maids calling box. The small room at the top of the stairs was for the maid.
