ADDENDUM : UNIQUE N.T. DRAGON FRUIT FARM

This farm has been established over a 10 year period with the owner
originally planting the Kensington Pride Mango. Wishing to diversify,
they decided to grow Dragon Fruit. The original plants came to Australia from Vietnam and although having a beautiful appearance, these fruit can be quite tasteless, therefore the owners decided to plant a brand new
hybrid version.

Scientists in Israel developed four clones of the fruit now known as
Desert King Dragon Fruit. The owners over the last 4 years have established, through experimentation with soil types, fertilizer, planting techniques and plant husbandry, the best method to maximise production of this unique fruit.
Their efforts have produced a fruit with a better taste, appearance and longer shelf life than any other comparable fruit in Australia.

The current fruiting season runs from November to May, yet new developments and experimentation are extending the season.

The anticipated production for 2008-9 year Season, again November to
May is 15,000 x 3kg boxes with production for the next 2 yrs, 2009-11 being 30,000 x 3kg boxes.

Prices at present for this fruit vary from $15-$35 per box.

Anticipated production figures are as follows:
15,000 x $15-$35 = $225,000 to $525,000 gross
30,000 x $15-$35 = $450,000 to $1,050,000 gross

The owners have dedicated many years of hard work and experimentationto achieve this model farm that has now reached fruition. Potential purchasers can now capitalise on this unique horticultural enterprise and reap the rewards of this new venture.
