UNDER CONTRACT Built in 1879 and perfectly positioned at the top of one of the highest peaks in the area. The breathtaking views extend from Torbreck to Mt Coot-tha and beyond, including the meandering Brisbane River to stunning Southbank and the heart of Brisbane City to the Story Bridge.

Originally this was a 2 bedroom cottage however to maximise the holiday rental the owners created a 3rd bedroom. This could be converted back to a dining room or whatever your heart desires should you be the fortunate person to secure this magnificent property.

The stylish gourmet kitchen features stainless steel appliances and granite benchtops with open plan living through the lounge and out to the expansive covered deck.

The bedrooms are spacious, the master with ensuite and the 2nd bedroom was originally the formal lounge or sitting room with access to the front wrap around verandah at the side and front of the property. The luxurious main bathroom features stained glass windows, twin basins and relaxing spa.
The two street access allows easy access to the property and plenty of off-street parking. These are short narrow streets that terminate so the traffic is minimal. The laneway at the back of the house was created to allow access for the houses that front Stephen Street and so land was resumed from the houses on Frith Street to create the laneway. It is not an easement and it is not a gazetted road. All properties have the use of this laneway.
Here you can own house and land without the obstacles and costs associated with apartment living and enjoy the vibrant lifestyle and conveniences of inner-city living. Just read the following from those who have stayed at Highgate Cottage…6 Reviews

Ideal Brisbane holiday home
Our family had a wonderful time over Christmas and New Year in this beautiful house! It’s in a fantastic position with amazing views over the city and within very easy walking distance, particularly of the Southbank but also the rest of the City. The verandah was the perfect spot to watch not only the New Year fireworks, but also some dramatic thunder storms! The furnishings are immaculate but homely and welcoming, and the kitchen was very well equipped. It was a delight to come ‘home’ to each evening and the facilities of the utility room with washing and ironing were an added bonus. We would love to come again to this terrific house! Many thanks again to the owners for their friendly assistance and for the opportunity to stay here.

Outstanding location, wonderful house.
We had a lovely weekend staying at Historic Highgate Cottage, the views were spectacular, the house wonderfully furnished and provided for, and all three bedrooms large and with beds that caused every guest to wake up saying “I had such a great sleep!’.
It was an easy walk to everywhere of interest and transport connections including the airport train. But I honestly would have been just as happy sitting on that great verandah checking out the view, with a good book and a glass of cold wine all day.
I can enthusiastically recommend this beautiful house, and wish to thank the owners for their considerate and friendly assistance throughout our stay. We’ll be coming back for sure.

Great place to stay!
Fantastic place to spend a holiday! The view is awesome and just a perfect place to enjoy wine and cheese after a day at Southbank or the city. Easy to access all attractions, clean and comfortable. Our only problem was we couldn’t stay longer!

What a find! The house was beautifully renovated and spotlessly clean, with every need for a “self contained” stay covered. Its close to Southbank, where we needed to be, and there were lots of local restaurants a short walk away. I am looking for an excuse to revisit Brisbane so that I can stay again!

We (five adults) stayed in the gorgeous Highgate Cottage for three nights to attend a wedding in Brisbane and absolutely loved it. The location is brilliant: close enough to the city to feel like everything is within reach, but nestled in a really great residential area full of stunning and unique QLD architecture. The view from the balcony really is outstanding, as is the super-comfy outdoor couch/bed/cocoon. It all makes for hours upon hours of balcony book reading, refre…
