Planning for the future of Rochedale
As the population of South East Queensland continues to grow, it is important to plan for future development to ensure
Brisbane remains a livable city. Brisbane City Council, in conjunction with the community and in keeping with the South
East Queensland Regional Plan 2026 vision, is planning for future residential communities. Part of this planning process
is the preparation of a draft Local Plan for the Rochedale Urban Community.
The purpose of this newsletter is to introduce the Rochedale Urban Community Draft Local Plan. The map overleaf
outlines what is planned for Rochedale under the draft Local Plan. Highlights of the draft Local Plan include a range of
housing areas, a new town centre, opportunities for business and clean industry, a series of community parks and large
areas of environmental protection.
What does the draft Local Plan propose?
The draft Local Plan identifies opportunities for developing land in the Rochedale area into an integrated, sustainable
and planned community for more than 10,000 people. It contains plans for a mix of development, including residential,
commercial, industrial and community uses.
The vision for the master planned community is to have a strong focus on design excellence, innovation and the use of
technology to achieve a sensible balance between sustainable development, conservation and community needs.
What’s been happening?
Council has been investigating issues raised from the draft Master Plan (released for public consultation early 2005) and
is now responding to these in the draft Local Plan.
Details of how you can access or view the draft Local Plan, and ways to provide feedback are outlined on the back page
of this newsletter.
