Wellington Point design story
To conceive a luxury home with bay views on this narrow site definitely presented some challenges for building designer Richard Malcolm and interior designer Melanie Pearce of design studio 22. The brief was to introduce something distinctive to the area with a diverse range of features producing a unique living experience for the future inhabitants. The brief was to capture the breezes; offer loads of outdoor living; include a pool; and appeal to a diverse range of people.
The secret to this exceptional home is the feeling of space and openness along with the zoning of specific areas. This was achieved with the creation of galleries and the inclusion of walls of glass, allowing landscaped areas to be created either side of the building with light and breezes to be captured. Thereby merging interior with exterior spaces and expanding the building to the rear to capture the north easterly views.
The zones separate entry from rumpus and bedroom areas; master suite from living and kitchen with both upper and lower living areas being located at the rear of the building. This creates a merging of indoor and outdoor as living areas spill out onto huge entertaining decks wrapping around from the north to the east and taking in the wonderful views.
Colours and fittings had to also be exclusive to compliment the uniqueness of the design. A move away from the overdone white on white was called for with something exceptional being created in the theme of Camembert, Olives and Cabernet. Subtle hues of grey and silver flow throughout the home with luxuriant accents of silver green, aubergine and butter colours complimenting the richness of the timber features both inside and out. This truly is a distinctive home.
