This 162 acre Airdmillan cane farm has produced outstanding sugar quality and high cane production for three generations of the same Burdekin family.
Continually producing an average of 7000 tons per year and irrigated from two 6 inch bores from the Burdekins unique acquifier which is replenished by the North Burdekin Water Board from the mighty Burdekin through a series of natural creeks, lagoons and channels cris crossing the Delta. Ground water is still a very economical resource with growers paying a charge per ha which is 30% financed by the miller CSR for cane growing.
Pumps on the farm are connected by underground pipes and water is delivered through spaced outlets through plastic fluming to the crops.
An extensive quantity of tractors, machinery and equipment is included in the sale (comprehensive list available). A quaint old Queenslander sits on a large lagoon frequented by various bird life attracted by the plant and vegetation on the lagoon.
Machinery sheds and a separate bore with underground sprinklers for the lawn and gardens, town water for the domestic supply all make this property an attractive parcel considering the high world prices predicted for sugar for the coming years.
