Country
‘Mayfield’ comprises of gently undulating Mulga Box country with Wilga, Sandalwood and Mulga plains on deep red soils. Some creek flats contain Brigalow and Gidyea with alluvial soils.

Approximately 7,597 Ha (18,764 acres) of ‘Mayfield’ has been developed to a blend of improved and native pastures. Broad Fodder Permits are in place, enabling further development of the remaining country.

Water
‘Mayfield’ is well watered with 17 earth dams ranging from 5,000 to 20,000 yards. Water rights to an additional 3 stock route dams, supported with permits to occupy. There are 2 stock intensive licenses attached to the house dams as water for the proposed feedlot. ‘Mayfield’ features 2 artesian bores, one equipped with a mono pump to 3 tanks which are centrally located. The water is gravity fed to a further 3 tanks, 11 troughs and the station complex. This bore also supplies water to a northern and western neighbor who incurs all pumping costs through a water agreement. The southern artesian bore is owned half share with a neighbor, equipped with a mill, tank and trough.

Fencing
Fencing is in excellent order with 80% of boundary fencing new/near new. 70% of internal fencing has been renewed over the last 15 years. Subdivided into 15 paddocks all fence lines are well maintained and have recently been cleared. There has been 28km of sheep fence recently upgraded to cattle fencing and 10km renewed. 8,394 Ha (20,733 acres) of country is fenced for goats into 4 paddocks.

Yards
Two (2) sets of steel cattle yards are complete with branding cradles, vet crushes, drafting and trucking facilities. One set of yards is located at the house with the other centrally located on the property – both are set up with watering facilities.

Carrying Capacity
Comfortably carries 1050 dry stock equivalent or 700 breeding cows or 1,050 adult equivalent cattle. Scope to increase carrying capacity is possible with the continuation of the current development program.
