Overview/History:
Lillydale Farmstay is a picturesque farmstay nestled in the foothills of South East Queensland’s Scenic Rim, and is a ninety minute scenic drive from the Gold Coast and Brisbane. Lillydale means flower of the valley’ and is the perfect place for Australian and international Visitors to experience real Australian country life and hospitality. Lillydale is currently the only 4 star AAA rated farm accommodation in Queensland. At Lillydale we believe that by keeping our accommodation numbers limited it makes the experience more personal and allows for greater customer service and more interaction with our guests. The isolation, expansive views, fresh air and delicious country cuisine make Lillydale an ideal place to renew energy and escape from modern stress
Owner operators, Doug and Pam Hardgrave and their family, are fourth to sixth generation local farmers. Doug’s grandfather settled nearby Mt Lindsay and original slabs from his 1882 slab hit are now a part of Lillydale’s amenities block. This is typical of the passion at Lillydale to preserve authentic rustic country Queensland atmosphere. Lillydale was purchased by Doug in 1969. Since then the property has been transformed from dairy to beef cattle production and is still a working cattle property today. Unstable cattle prices and the area’s natural beauty inspired the development of Lillydale into a farm stay which opened in Easter 2000.
Even though its location is truly exhilarating, Lillydale is primarily defined by its superior personal service. Guests become a part of the extended family for the duration of their visit and often send emails and provide trip advisor reports, letters and photos to keep us up to date with their families.
Lillydale is also conscientious in its efforts to develop ecologically sustainable practices, applying for its ecotourism accreditation in 2007 with Ecotourism Australia and developing a wider range of interactive activities which showcase the natural beauty of the area. We are regularly updating our website www.lillydale.com.au
