Business Description
Tyrepower Taroom (Phipps Mechanical Repairs) is a privately owned freehold business fronting Wolsey Street on the corner of Clarke Street.

The industrial and rear storage sheds are approximately 3 years old with further upgrades to the internal 3-phase power supply. External improvements include the recent addition of retaining walls and bitumen hardstand.

The business is mechanical orientated with the distinction of being the only Approved Inspection Station in Taroom. Due to the addition of Tyrepower new tyre sales has achieved excellent growth for the business due to limited local competition. A transitional period for training of the new owners will be pre-determined upon sale.

Staffing levels include one fitter, two mechanics (one full-time and one contract), two trainees at one day per week with the owner and secretary both working full-time.

Services offered include all mechanical repairs to a variety of vehicles and implements, alignments, suspension, balances, tyre repair, batteries and mufflers with tyre brands distributed being Kelly, Toyo, Kumho, Good Year, Dunlop and Bridgestone.

Surrounding future development will focus on the new Wandoan Coal Mine 60 kms south of Taroom. The Surat Basin Railway from Toowoomba to Gladstone is scheduled for completion by 2012 with a recent announcement that ATEC will build the missing rail link between Toowoomba and Moree by 2013.
