Enjoy the ever changing patterns of light, wind and tide that make up the uninterrupted views over the estuary and Coral Sea. This house was designed with sensitivity to the land, aspect, climate and surrounds by renowned Brisbane architect Geoffrey Pie, winner of Australia’s most prestigious residential architectural award, the Robin Boyd prize ,with a very similar design at Noosa.
The house was completed in 2004 by Skyring Builders of Brisbane.

It consists of two separate pavilions so that all bedrooms, living room and kitchen have water views. Materials include Hardiplank walls, marine ply floors in dry areas, and Ritek insulated panel roofing which eliminates the need for a space consuming ceilings .Many windows have fully retractable exterior awnings. The single storey pavilion comprises the open-plan lounge, dining and kitchen. It is linked via an open deck to the double storey pavilion at the back. This pavilion has three bedrooms, including a bunk dormitory for the kids, an upstairs and downstairs toilet, wet room shower and double garage.

The house blurs the line between outdoor and indoor living spaces, making the connection to nature much stronger. Environmental sensibilities throughout the design ensure this property takes advantage of every aspect. From the half covered deck capturing the morning winter sun and relief from the heat in summer, cross ventilation windows and sloped roofing , no matter what time of day all year round, comfort is at a premium.
