This unique property, zoned rural, gives a feeling of tranquil wilderness yet is only 45 minutes to Cairns. Ganyan Creek, a beautiful, clear permanent creek provides water for the house, orchard and swimming holes. The sound of the 2 metre waterfall can be heard all over the orchard. The creek forms the back boundary with World Heritage forest. There is an abundance of wildlife, including platypus and cassowary.
Approximately 20 acres are cleared. Grandfather trees grace the deep fertile soil around the house. The orchard has had an organic regime for 14 years and grows a variety of fruit trees; early shepard avocados, bananas, custard apples, durian, jack fruit, lychee, limes, mangos, oranges, paw paw and rolinia. Cinnamon, allspice trees and native pepper grow easily. There is also a raised bed vegie garden, chook house, aviaries and assorted sheds. A network of 4 WD tracks winds through forest, over hills and gullies with seasonal creeks. From the high ridges there are 360 degree views unspoiled by human habitation.
The mainly timber sustainable Kuranda-style accommodation incorporates many recycled materials. There is good access in all weather conditions, mains electricity, broadband connection, digital and satellite TV. In contrast to the more populated Cairns and Coastal areas, the comfortable moderate climate can be enjoyed all year round.
Sustainability Declaration available.
