Originally conceived as an Arts and Nature Retreat, Mossy Rocks at Malanda is a property with many unique features which command your interest. Built on a hectare of land with no immediate neighbours, the block of land itself must be seen to be believed. The project began in 1994 with the planting of 4000 mixed rainforest trees on a vacant dairy block with the beautiful William Creek running through the property. Secluded and private blocks of land of this nature are extremely difficult to acquire and it is situated only 3kms from Malanda on the prestigious Merragallan Road.
There are two buildings on the property as it is registered as a Rural Homestay to accommodate visitors. The main house is of pole construction and features a stage and small theatre, four bedrooms and one and half bathrooms. The second dwelling consists of two apartment style living areas (one overlooking the creek) and two studio-workshop areas for visual artists. There are 3 bedrooms and two separate shower and toilet facilities in this steel and colour-bond shed. A bridge across the creek to a lovely swimming hole is also made from steel, a semi-trailer concreted in on both sides, which connects both sides of the property.
The landscaping, flora and fauna are also magical. Platypus, tree kangaroos, and many species of birds have now taken up residence in the mature rainforest that is now the backdrop to a very interesting property. Now an environmental park, this property boasts many beautiful and practical features and seeks an enthusiastic owner who will develop the project into a successful community, tourist or business venture.
