The inspiration for this beach house with unsurpassed excellence, style and quality in an unparalleled location, was a temporary pavillion style home which was built on the shores of Rottnest Island off the coast of Western Australia.
Created as a set for an Australian
feature film, the dream home only existed for eight short weeks before being dismantled and removed.
The atmosphere of the home has been captured in this look-a-like pavillion style dwelling that enjoys commanding views of the ocean and Islands, and extends to 180 degrees.
Dappled sunlight filters from above into the living area, from a central pop-up roof, its shape inspired by Japanese pagodas.
To stimulate the colour of driftwood, a wash of diluted blue-grey paint has been applied to the exterior of the home.
A deep blue pool has been sunk into a private decked area at the rear of the home – screened from view by the tropical green splendour of a garden shrub.
Open spaces internally with blackbutt timber floors and minimalistic with loads of glass openings to bring inside, the dress circle views across the turquoise blue waters to Dunk Island.
Two master bedrooms each with their own bathrooms are large and turpentine poles separate open areas that have a distinct nautical feel.
An untamed tropical garden fills the sloping areas below the home and provide a tropical green vista which hides any other inhabitants from view.
The poles below the home extend down dizzy heights and provide an excellent platform for building in another level below.
