Services
The farm has weekly garbage collection, bitumen road frontage and 3-phase power. Post Office and Primary school in Giru, Secondary schools in Ayr and Townsville. Ayr has a population of 10,000 with another 10,000 in the surrounding area supplying a busy town centre with both large and small retailers, banks, etc. Townsville has a population of over 170,000 with a large Government and industrial presence. There are daily flights to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne as well as a large university.

Country
There are loam soils along the river frontage running to clay soils moving away from the river. The farm is laser leveled and flood irrigated. The majority of drills range from 5-600m in length. There is no flooding on the farm apart from a small area away from the house in big floods.

Water
A water allocation of 650 mega litres is charged at $20/meg from the Haughton River. The three pumps are all 3-phase and are a 6″ turbine, a 6″ submersible and a 6″ centrifugal with two 10″ stainless steel spears in the river bank. A 2 mega litre recycle pit catches run off from the entire farm except 25ac. It is equipped with a 4″ China pump and 3-phase motor. This has an electricity guarantee of $600/three months for another 7 years. The electricity bill has never exceeded the guarantee. All the under ground pipe is 12″ poly apart from some 12″ cement pipes along the river bank. All water can be interchanged including the recycle system. A 2″ submersible pump supplies water to the houses and gardens with drinking water coming from 3x5000ga rain water tanks equipped with a pressure pump.
