THE COOMERA COMMUNITY: An exciting New Town Centre – The proposed Coomera Town Centre, covering 60 hectares will be larger than many major city shopping centres. With 1000,000 square metres of retail space, it will have more shops than the Gold Coasts Pacific Fair. In addition it will accommodate commercial and government facilities, schools, and public amenities as well as residential buildings. It will have a major transport interchange – Seaworld approx 26km and Movieworld only 9km away. A tri-level education precinct is proposed
including a TAFE and possibly the Gold Coasts third university. All will share facilities such as information technology, libraries, ovals and gymnasiums. The community centre will house a public library, private hospital, and 50-metre swimming pool. An integrated network of parkland will service the entire town providing environmental, aesthetic and recreational functions. An eco hotel is also on the drawing boards. Another $2.36 billion worth of new investment is now underway across 13 projects within a 10- kilometre radius of Coomera.
Shopping and services: Local shopping facilities are already abundant Coomera Central, Oxenford Centre, Hope Island Shopping Centre, Sanctuary Fair, Australia Fair at Southport and Pacific Fair at Broadbeach. Coupled with the proposed billion-dollar town centre, these provide Coomera residents with a superb range of amenities. Transport: Coomera railway station is five minutes away (approx 1.5km) from Coomera , offering easy access to both Brisbane and the Gold Coast. The eight lane M1 Motorway is also nearby, so a Gold Coast visit is about 20 minutes south, approx 26km to Surfers Paradise golden beaches and Brisbane about 40 minutes north. The State Government proposes to spend $182 million over the next four years upgrading public transport infrastructure including a second rail track between Ormeau and Coomera train stations. Education: Educational facilities, from childcare to universities are nearby, including Coomera State Primary, Helensvale State High, St Stephens College, Coomera Anglican College, TAFE and Griffith University.
