The main feature and inspiration for this architecturally designed home are the old beams used throughout the exterior and interior, including the timber floors in the living, kitchen and dining areas.
The builder 4C construction sourced the timber from the old Townsville wharf, who eventually went on to win the 2006 Queensland Master Builders Association awards.
The main theme of the home is the 3 storey void which soars up from the kitchen to the upstairs living area. The void connects the other levels and makes the kitchen the centrepiece for entertaining guests.
The home has been designed to incorporate the ground floor living areas where they can be opened right out to the deck and private courtyard, complete with floor to ceiling bi-fold doors and remote controlled louvres.
The open spaces in the home allow a flow for people coming and going from the sand and the ocean to enjoy the casual living areas, or relaxing by the pool or cooking in the gourmet kitchen.
External timber and metal shutters provide both privacy and protection from the harsh summer sun and sometimes blustery ocean breezes. Whatever the weather you can still leave the windows open to allow the cooling breezes.
Water is a natural theme for the home with glass inserts spaced along the sandstone boundary wall with water reticulating through to create a soothing effect. A second water feature flows down the sandstone wall over the pool.
Upstairs the prime north east master bedroom includes an ensuite with a full size Stylus classic spa bath with glass bi-folds opening out to the ocean panoramic, double Travertine basins and Marfil tiles and double shower heads. The office situated behind the master bedroom still allows for ocean views. Adjacent to the office is the large walk in robe.
