Queensland is the fastest-growing state in Australia, and welcomes 100,000 new residents every year on account of its robust economy and quality lifestyle, with 66% relocating to the state’s south-east corner. This continuing population growth places significant demand on residential land and housing supply and housing prices. This demand for housing encompasses the
fast-growing south-east corner, from Caboolture in the North and Ipswich in the West down to the northern Gold Coast corridor.
To address demand, the Department of Infrastructure and Planning is leading planning and development reform, which involves streamlining Queensland’s planning and development assessment system to ease housing supply and affordability. The department is encouraging development of transit oriented developments, which integrate housing, retail and transport precincts
