The house is situated at 204 Lake Macdonald Drive in Cooroy. It is an old Queenslander which has been sympathetically extended and restored to its former glory with loads of heritage features. There are scrollwork transoms over the doors, period electrical fittings and door handles, high ceilings, stained glass, French doors and VJ walls. The house was painted throughout about 12 months ago.

The house is highset at the front and you enter from the back. There are a few steps down from the floodlit driveway to the entry via the newly built covered walkway. However, there is also a granny flat (cottage).

The house has a nice airy kitchen with French Doors to the veranda which wraps around three sides. There are also French doors from the dining room, lounge and the bedrooms.

The main house has three bedrooms, one with ensuite and a family bathroom plus an extra throne in the laundry.

Under the highset front veranda, overlooking the garden are two adjoining rooms which make lovely guest accommodation or could be a great teenagers retreat, study, treatment room or office.

The cottage has a lounge room accessed by French doors, a bedroom, a kitchenette and a bathroom. It is joined to the house by the veranda and looks very much like part of the original house but has the advantage of being completely separated. It would be ideal for guests or Mum and Dad. The lounge room of the cottage is currently set up as an artist’s studio.

The house is on 3 acres with a creek, permanent waterhole complete with resident platypus and an additional dam stocked with fish. Town water is available and there are also rainwater tanks collecting the water from the house and the shed. Solar panels supply all the electricity and feed back to the grid. There is also solar hot water. The house has ceiling fans throughout and a genuine Victorian fireplace which has been retrofitted with a heritage style ‘hot coal’ gas fire. There is a reverse style air conditioner in the cottage. There is a double garage with electric doors and a covered carport out the front. It has lots of storage at the back and there is an additional shed that was intended as a studio which has a picture window overlooking the garden. The chooks are royally accommodated in a new chook run complete with feed shed.

The house is protected by natural bush on its margins so it is very private. There are gardens full of bird attracting plants as well as an extensive pantry garden. There are veggie patches and a citrus orchard full of limes, lemons, oranges, mandarins etc. There are also custard apples, persimmons, loquats, macadamias, bananas and more.

Nature is at your doorstep with dozens of varieties of visiting birds and native animals. At last count, no less than fifty birds were identified. The verandas look out onto the lawns and garden down to the waterhole then on to bushland and grazing. There are one or two houses in the distance.

The house has loads of potential as an income earning business as the cottage provides options as working from home, a professional practice or anywhere that privacy is important. Alternatively, it would suit a family looking for accommodation for elderly parents, a carer or somewhere for a teenager, student or extra guests.
