Built around 1860, this quaint stone cottage was the original Crafers Post Office, situated between Stirling and Crafers on the main road to Melbourne. Horses and bullocks from the wagons would stop to drink from a large water trough that was situated at the top of the current driveway.

The original two storey, four roomed cottage has been extended over the years into a blend of old and new, the highlight being the addition of the large ‘glass room’ overlooking mature ferns and the lovely hills garden. The glass room leads onto a deck, nestled underneath the branches of a Silver Birch; the perfect area for BBQs.

A winter creek runs through the garden, with plenty of flat areas to sit and enjoy the abundance of hydrangeas, rhododendrons, fuchsias, azaleas and deciduous trees. The cottage is shaded all summer by a magnificent Japanese maple that turns to a splash of colour during autumn.

The kitchen has been the hub of this home and is light and welcoming with plenty of cupboard space and a dishwasher.

The layout of the house contains your choice of quiet spaces to sit and read a book, away from the rest of the family.
