All Australian native bush land has its unique characteristics, some because of the vegetation differences, some because of the range of native birds and animals.

These sections are no different. Salt Creek floods through the area irregularly so we have large mallee and large gum trees with hollow branches, a parrots paradise. There is even a resident red kangaroo population along with western grey kangaroos. The under story contains a fair bit of salt bush so the reptiles have a place to call their own.

If the challenge to you is where to ride a motor bike or where to go camping, this may be the spot. There is no shortage of timber for a winters bushie, and the timber is big enough to ride through, no hemmed in like typical mallee vegetation.

Access through the block is provided by a graded track, one of the neighbours has a pipe line easement, so the block is easily traversed to find a good camp spot.

Four wheel drive is not required, but once you are in the middle of the block, the rest of the world may as well be a hundred miles away!

The powers that be tell us the Wallaroo to Lucky Bay ferry will be running again shortly and this block of scrub is only 20 minutes from Lucky Bay (travelling time will vary from one individual to another, 20 minutes is only a guide, distance about 27 kms).

Who knows what the future potential of native bushland is, it may even be useful when the carbon tax comes into being, in the meantime just enjoy it for what it is, a place to relax and get back to nature.
