The business offers 4 day or two day trips down river – longer if needed, trips are unguided.
The distances of the trips can vary – from Tayatea Bridge to Arthur River Bridge is approximately 80km, and from Kanunnah Bridge to Arthur River Bridge is approximately 48km.
A day trip can also be done from Tayatea Bridge down to Kannunah Bridge – several groups have completed this trip in less than eight hours. There are no established campsites between Tayatea Bridge and Kanunnah Bridge – you choose one of several top locations and enjoy!
Kanunnah Bridge (Forestry Tasmania) has a double ended picnic/bbq hut, wood supplied, fresh water which canoeists are welcome to use, for camping also.
Kanunnah Bridge to Arthur River: There are 3 established campsites maintained by us, which are open to the general public OR between rhese two bridges choose your own spectacular site. On this same down river trip the Arthur and Frankland Rivers meet. Paddle upstream along the Frankland again, choose a campsite. (No established campsites on the Frankland).
The Arthur River is home to trophy-sized Brown Trout, Blackfish and Australian Salmon in the lower reaches. Sea running Trout enter the river from September to February. Dinghies are available for hire to catch the ‘big one’.
Dinghies are for hourly, daily or overnight hire. There are two established camp sited prior to the Arthur/Frankland junction, which is the turning point for all hire dinghies, a 30km round trip on this beautiful river.
Here may also choose to do the twenty minute walk through giant Manferns, Swamp Gums, Blackwoods and Wild Clematis to Elvers Falls, home to Azure Kingfishers, Teal, Black Ducks and Wood Ducks to name a few.
