Currently operated as an intensive dairy farm, this King Island property lends itself to extremely high pasture production on its fertile sandy loam soils. The property is suitable for both dairy and beef production and has had 95% of the property re-grassed during the past 5 years. 2 homes are situated on the farm which would certainly provide sufficient housing for current farms labour requirements. Currently milking 240 dairy cows in a 50/50 split calving (10th August and 10th March) herd the farm still has potential to continue to increase production. The high rainfall is supplemented by a 30 hectare lateral irrigation system plus a 30 hectare hard hose irrigation system which sources water from several dams that provide approximately 40ML of water storage on farm. The dairy has an 8,000 litre milk silo, solar hot water system, automatic grain feeding system and a 50 tonne grain silo. There are several outbuildings, which provide sufficient space for calf rearing, machinery and hay storage. In addition to milking 240 cows, the farm also sells a quantity of supplement, fattened all cull cows and grazed beef. The farm is well subdivided with electric fencing and there is trough water and laneways to most paddocks. A recently upgraded 18 swing over dairy meets the current milking requirements very well. Soil test results are excellent – P.H. averaging 6.5, Olsen P averaging 75mg/Kg, Potassium averaging 275mg/kg and Sulphur averaging 120mg/kg.
The farm is bare, with the option of purchasing stock and machinery at market value.
