We are very proud to be able to present this unique sanctuary. It is for those who have a complete understanding of what it’s like to live in and own an environmental paradise. It lies within the world renowned Freycinet National Park and sits 50 metres from the high-tide mark of one of the most beautiful, untouched beaches you will ever see.
5550 square metres of undeveloped land at The Fisheries, Coles Bay, Tasmania, 7215
Lying approx 3 km within the Freycinet National Park boundary is the hundred metres of magical, sheltered beach and granite headlands which comprises The Fisheries
This enclave contains some of the most tightly held land in Tasmania – roughly 40 blocks of freehold land have been split off from 20 Acres originally granted to Charles Meredith almost a century ago, for bay whaling. Of these blocks, only a few are waterfront.
This block, mostly pristine bush on a NW facing slope, with some lovely stands of the rare Oyster Bay Pine,is approx 140m long. The Northern boundary, of 64m ajoins the beach ( now National Park), and access from the National Park at the rear of the block is through the top side of the 39m southern boundary. The centreline of the Fisheries Creek forms most of the eastern boundary, whilst 5 roughly quarter acre blocks (all now with homes) spread along the south-western boundary.
The block has been family owned since 1991.
Development of the block has been restricted to;
- permanent dam and concrete spillway- 35 years ago-approx 25mx12m.
(we’ll put this one down to Fred Bowen- he made his mark on the fisheries!)
- caravan – (fairly elderly)
- A 3mx3m colourbond storage shed and 2000g GI tank
- levelled campsite 20x7m
- all weather vehicular access track and turning bay
Numerous sites would be available for housing development-(STCA)- even at the rear of the block, water views are available at head height. Building two storeys to maximise views has been the chosen option for most of the neighbours.
Some excellent pink granite boulders up to 1/2m si
