The centre piece of Fonthill is the gracious circa 1840s Gothic style sandstone home, a wonderful monument to the opulent past of our grazing aristocracy. This homestead is on four levels and has been transformed to luxury accommodation for guests.
Water is a valuable commodity that can be relied on at Fonthill. A fantastic solar/gravity system providing excellent bore water to all parts of the property has recently been installed. Any excess has been used for small scale pasture irrigation but would suit any number of horticultural enterprises. Fonthill today is one of the states more prominent superfine wool growing properties, last year taking out first prize in the regional section of the New England Wool Clip of the Year competition.
Approximately 1200 hectares of the property is cleared open land. The balance is bush runs used for grazing wethers for the production of superfine wool.
Approximately 300 hectares has been set aside in a private timber reserve that is periodically grazed and also forms an integral part of the property’s eco-tourism business for which Fonthill is forging a name.
